    longer shocks, springs????

Hey everyone, let me start off by saying thanks for having a site dedicated to the marq's, vic's and lincolns. back in feb i bought a 1991 grand marq that untill 2 or 3 years ago was owned and highly pamperd by an elderly lady, since then i have started to add my own personall touch and have a question about the suspension, i know to most of you this may seem like an odd question, but is it possible by using shocks or springs that i could raise the car about .75 - 1 inch in the front and closer to 2 inches in the rear, the reason behind this being i bought a set of wheels/tires that came off an exploder with a tire size of 275/45 20, as they are now they slightly rub in the rear when i hit a lager bump and the fronts also still catch the fender everynow and then on a turn, i know the easiest solution would be to step down in tire size but that also makes for a rougher ride, i dont want to do any kind of bodylift but with added weight and the tire size i need it to come up just a little bit. does anyone have any suggestions, or maybe comments how this might effect the steering or overall ride. any help is appreciated, and again thanks for the awsome site. i just registerd today so i havent put any pics up but here is my cardomain sight http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2366141

After 15 years im sure your stock springs have compressed some. For the rear get some new wagon coils, for the fornt a new pair of wagon or maybe police shocks would raise it up. GoodSamaritan on here has his wagon lifted nicely, he coule tell you what he used. Also this is more suited to the suspension forum.

Wagon springs and 98 stock front springs should give you a good inch over stock elevation. Not sure what GoodSamaritan has on his wagon but its higher than stock, so he'd probably be the guy to ask.

You will want 56 Chevy rear shocks with medium valving at least.

While I am not usually a fan of huge wheels on a box, that is VERY tastefully done. Looks nice!
