    Valve body question

What are the advantages/disadvantages of going with a full manual valve body as opposed to an automatic/manual valve body?

    #2
    Advantages:
    full control over shift points
    more control over car
    no TV cable to adjust

    Disadvantages:
ya gotta shift that fucker all the time
most likely a PITA in traffic

I hear it's a really harsh shift, too. Not something you'd want on the street.

So it can be run without the TV cable?! Sweet! I want one then, any suggestions? I couldn't care less about the disadvantage of shifting all the time, it's still better than a stick (don't have to use your foot too).

You don't want it on an AOD. You'll burn the fucker up. That is FULL TV pressure.

Oh yeah, he will prob have a C4 or C6... It's gonna be a strip terminator...

Your question answered it all....One is full manual, one is automatic. Both can be made to shift harshly. Full manuals are also reverse pattern, which is great for the dragstrip.

My C-4 is a full reverse manual.

The shifts are butter smooth, but lightning fast. the onlly way you can tell mine shifts is the motor changing speeds and the tach dropping.

Like has been said full control over shift points. i can shift into second at 1500 or 5000 RPM regardless of throttle posistion.

With a good shifter it is impossible to miss a shift like a manual transmission.

upshifting and down shifting are not bad I would not want to do it everyday, but thats just me. Just dont forget to put it in first or second before leavign from a stop, good way to destroy 3rd gear.

So can a manual valvebody be adjusted so it shifts like Duce's C4, smooth and fast, without destroying an AOD tranny?

Duce, any suggestions? The only full-manual valve body I found was a Performance Automatic one for $617 at Summit, and it has a transbrake - I do not need a transbrake, and obviously the price is quite on the high side for my application

I remember seeing something about a Lentech manual VB in a Mustang mag years ago. I dunno if they still make it or not though.
