Finally getting around to removing the cut PI coils and replacing them with stock springs. Also going to rebuild the lower control arms (bushings and balljoints).

Even with the 90/10 shocks i cant get any weight off the front and onto the rear. With 20PSI in the tires im spinning off the line.
Hopefully now ill be able to cut a 60' faster than 1.97.

Ive got the tire thats not a problem. There are cars running 7's at nearly 200MPH on the same tires.

Its just that my front end never rises due to the short stiff front springs.

Generaly you run pretty low PSI in drag because burnout increases PSI a lot. I have not uncommonly heard 12psi.

Not that much. Radials are tricky because of thier construction. Low pressure is to soften the shock of the launch.

Ive heard of guys running these same tires as low as 15. I believe BFG reccomends no less than 12 or 13.

Bob has a smaller tire, a lot more gear (4.56 vs. 3.55), a lot more stall (IIRC about 4500 vs. 2600), more power(300 vs. 240) and similar suspension (he's got stock shocks, ive got 90/10s), his car leaves harder than mine (damn near pulls the wheel), but we have similar 60' times.

I think BFG recomends 12 to 20 at the strip. Are you and Bob close enough to try each others tires? Bob might need just a little less gear to improve times and you a bit more. Thats asuminng by smaller you mean diameter.
Are you running a front sway bar at the track? If so disconect or remove it at the track it usualy helps. Havent had enough power in one of these boxes yet to see how the rear suspension reacts to a launch. I suspect the rear pulls away from the pavement causing the rear to squat like a stock mustang. To plant the rear tires properly you should see the rear and the front both rise. Whin this happens properly the rear is actualy forcing the tires into the pavement pushing the rear of the car upwards. Sometimes to do this requires different rear control arm geometry and longer shocks. Longer shocks so they dot top out on launch. About 40 to 45% of the rod showing. The Chevs use anti hop bars Mustangs what were the South Side bars to accomplish this. Old Mopars usaualy launch well due to there rear spring mounting locations. I made some mods to accomplish this on my 84 Stang made a big differance on traction road race, street and strip. In fact it got so good the clutch realy needed an up grade to handle it.

well i finally got the passenger side re-assembled. the spring is not seated properly so now the car looks like a 1960s funny car. It could not sit any higher, It is sitting against the bumpstop, My only choice is to ger the other side together and drive it to make them settle.

The left side is still on a jack stand but this side has full weight on it.

Guess the other thing that helped me was I was running 26" tall tires on the rear, and 27's on the front...Still had crappy 60's though...2.18 was the best I ever got with it. 90HP 2.3 NA stang with 5 speed and 4.10s got 2.10's...

my best 60' (1.99) was actually done with the heavy 15 x 8s and the 235's up front.

My car was 45 miles away from me at Capitol Raceway on 215/70/15 stockers in the front, and 225/60/15 BFG radial t/a's on the back...
