One thing you prob oughta watch for (happened with my merk) is that ford was real retarded, and ran one common ground for all 4 speakers in the car!

Stupid, STUPID idea if you ask me! :nonono:

Hmmm, luckily for me when I installed the speakers in the rear of my LTD, the plugs were still there so I just wrote down what was the positive and negative colors on each side, then used regular spade terminals. Sadly... I have long lost taht piece of paper. '84 shouldn't use a common ground.

I have the 1984 LTD Wiring Diagram. Do you have the premium stereo with the amp?
If so, there is a pink & light blue dot wire for left rear speaker, and
pink & light blue stripe wire for right rear
dark green w/orange dot wire for right rear and
pink & light green stripe wire for the left rear speaker

If not, the black w/white hash wire is a common ground for all 4 speakers the wire goes to the right rear then splits off to the left rear.
gray w/light blue hash is left rear
orange w/red dot is right rear

i'd sticky that as premium sound is a pita to work around and some people do not want to run new wires
