Are you used to the "creature comforts" of your GM? If you are, then the CVPI will have NONE of those. The choice is yours.

        Creature comforts:
remote keyless entry with a keypad on the door (includes auto lock feature)
leather seating (only vinyl can be had for the rear seat)
        high end factory stereo system
        illuminated visor mirrors
dual power seats (driver only w/CVPI)
        leather wrap steering wheel
carpet w/ floor mats (most CVPIs have the black mat)
adjustable pedals (very rare on used CVPIs)

Pretty much. Now the CVPI has stuff that the GM doesn't have:
            no pats system keys
            engine oil cooler
hd trans and power steering cooler
            different steering gear ratio
option of having a traction-lok rear end
hd suspension (inc stabilizer bars, springs and shocks)
            option of silicone hoses
            hd brake pads
            hd frame and body mounts
chance for other options like strobe lights, 5" dome lamp and dark mode
option of hucaps or full wheel covers
            Honeycomb grille ('01 and up)
Street appearance group (looks like a p73)
front bucket seats or split bench
            140Mph "calibration certified" speedometer

            Keep us posted.

I'd rather have a GM and put the HD parts on it.

If you want a no-frills performance oriented Panther, a PI is the way to go. Just make sure to get one that wasn't beaten to hell.

As a guy that owns one, KEEP THE GM. Once I get out of tech school and take the vic off the road I have a shit ton of stuff to fix.

I have been in a GM and you know there is nothing in there I'd rather have over a CV. And as some have posted most don't have carpet, and cloth seats, thats a false statement, yes some don't but not all. However if your GM is getting old, and isn't in good shape a CV would be a nice replacement car!

My '89 CVPI has rubber floor mats and a vinyl rear seat, but my dad's '96 CVPI has carpet and a cloth rear seat.

                            And CVPI, welcome to GMN!

Yeah those cars can be custom configured to what the department or organization needs, heck I know of some that has 2 vinyl front bucket seats. Of course its always best to find a car that was given to one guy not for the whole department to take turns with, and/or a detectives car or one that didn't even see police use better yet (and same goes with a cab version)
