2G Alternator Connects to Oil Sender?

    Hi all,

Well, I'm getting ready to do the 3G swap, along with new battery cables and starter cables in my 1991 5.0 GM.

But, looking at the 2 plugs that connect to my present 2G alternator, I notice that out of one plug's loom, is a wire that goes directly to the oil sending unit, down by the oil filter.

I already purchased a new 3G regulator plug and a #4 alternator charge cable w/200 Amp fuse.
Nothing mentions a connection to the oil sender.

Can someone please explain this to me and how I should handle it in my 3G conversion?

    Thanks,

dont get confused - that wire is only in the same wire harness as the ones for your alternator. I promise it doesnt hook into the oil sender strip back the loom bewteen the 2 points and you will see.

that wire just connects to the low oil level indicatior in the oil pan......it's in the same harness, just isolate the wire and splice it back together

The Low Oil Indicator is located on the driver's side, near the back of the oil pan.

Hey today I found out I fried my alternator. And I am thinking of doing a 3G conversion. What does this consist of? What do I have to do? And is there a 1993 Taurus one? And also does it look similar to the other one? As in the original.
