    Turbo M75

This may be a stupid question but I was wondering if there was a way to run a low boost turbo (6-8 LBS) on a 4.6?? A bunch of honduh guys I work with say it can be done...I was thinking about using a turbo out of an old supercoupe and doing a custom system

yes, there are a few turbocharged panthers running around.

      Super coupe= SUPERCHARGED

TURBO COUPE= Turbo. And that is WAY too friggin small for a V8... you would need 2.

That could be fun. In theory I think it should be possible to turbocharge most any engine as long as the innards are up to it (i.e. I wouldn't want to run much boost without forged pistons). I'd think as long as the turbo size is well thought-out (big enough to make the power you want but small enough that lag is acceptable) and you run an intercooler and an appropriate custom fuel map to optimize power and avoid exciting smoke shows in the wrong place, the results could be a huge amount of fun.

I just want to run about 6-8 lbs of boost. What would be a good turbo to go with

huh, we'll have to get someone on this thread who really knows about turbos....

I'd guess these would be good places to start:

turbomustangs.com. DO NOT POST. Search and read. Also, just look around mustang boards. Turbocharged mustangs are common. And they use a very similar motor.

I am on a few Mustang boards. They ARE antisocial. Not all of course, but most. It's hard to find a person who is polite about answering rookie questions on Mustang boards anymore....

Concerning the turbo on the 4.6? Is the engine stock? Don't bother, the motor won't handle it. The earlier 4.6 2V engines are weak, bad head gaskets to start with....the pistons are usually the next culprit.

Just use the 5.4 triton swap on this page:
                      http://www.geocities.com/v8thunder54/triton.html
This is what the car is needing, actual low-end grunt.
