    Radio illumination?

Alright guys here my problem. The backlight for the screen on my '91's radio never worked so you couldn'tr see which station you were on all that well. I just put in a Pioneer Headunit and I still have the same problem, Checked the fuse and it's fine. Any ideas?

what kinda head unit did you install? an old one or a new one? if new, i dont think many new head units come with a illumination wire...even though it shouldent be a related matter

Aftermarket head units usually do come with an illumination wire as far as I know, but it's used as a sensor line so that the head unit can dim its display along with the rest of the dash lights when you turn on the head lights.

yeah the Ill wire should be to dim the display, not turn on the display. Id say something else is messed up

What they said, though I have seen a couple wierdo sets that weren't quite that way. If you power the illum wire and it lights up, just tie it to the power antenna or remote wire (whichever its called) on the back of your radio so the lights come on with the radio. Not all have an illumination wire tho, its usually on more recent and better sets. My cheap crap ones don't.
