i do believe that radio has different plugs......86's and older have different wiring and stereos
1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt

short answer is no, long answer is its possible if you want to do all the wiring modifications. Basically the stock 85 wiring is useless, what you end up doing with it is running new speaker wires to each speaker and making it work that way. The 85 has common grounds and stuff which were done away with in I believe 1988. Plugs are different too. You wont be able to use an aftermarket radio without running new wires either unfortunately.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

the wal-mart head unit wire harness kit I got for the 91 has BOTH types of plugs on it, old and new style (covers more years/cars that way). I bet you could us it to plug that stereo right in.Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements
