Hey everybody-
I am not a Ford guy but i bought a 1986 Ford Crown Vic LX about a month and I was wondering is Panther the platform name for Grand Marquis, Crown Vic, Towncar, etc.? I figured as much but I want to know for sure. As for the Vic, I'm impressed with it. It's the best Ford I have ever driven. Thank you!

I'm just nit-picking, here, but panther is the name for Crown Vic and Grand Marquis '79-present, and Town Car '80-present. '79 Town Cars were still on the larger chassis. Also, don't forget Mercury Marauders '03-'05! :D

And I'm not sure if I already said so or not, but welcome!

Well, if you're going to nitpick that much, you'd better also mention the Panther-chassis Mark VI!

Just take a walk through the Reader's Rides forum. They're in the minority, but they're around.

For starters, here's marquisman's '80 Givenchy (http://www.grandmarq.net/vb/showthread.php?t=19211).......

Huh...is it possible the last of 'em made in '04 were sold as '05 models? I was nearly sure that there were '05 Marauders...perfectly willing to admit if that's not the case, you understand; I'm just curious, now.

Tis entirely plausible, and highly likely. I just rarely hear them referred to as '05's.

Yeah they won't turn off. Is this a common problem in these cars?

I've had it happen before (stop but not go into park position), but after playing with the switch mine always decides to work again. So far.

We had that problem too, it was with the aero though.. when you shut the wipers off, the wipers would stand up on the winshield. 90* angle. Lol. We replaced the motor, and we haven't had a problem ever since.

Doesn't work to just pop it into Neutral, shut off and restart the engine, and then keep going?
