97 to 77 parts interchange

How close, or far, are the specs on the frame and suspension between a 77 Ltd and 97 Grand Marq.

Our 97 was totaled with a bent frame and front and rear sways. Would like to know if I could convert the 77 to air ride and the 4.6 drivetrain.

The 77 LTD is a completely different platform from the 79+ LTD's..As for the 4.6 you would be better off building up a 400 CI motor..The 4.6 is too small for moving that big heavy car anywhere in a hurry.. As for air ride you might be able to get a kit for that vehicle through Airlift or Firestone (the OEM for the 97')

79 and newer have about same suspension and frame set up. i would find as new of a frame as possible to use since older will have more chance of having rotten areas

+1. My Dad's 215 horse 4.6 CVPI has no problem rolling right down the road. For 281 ci and 215 horsepower; I am impressed. My 351 is a turd...

The 400 that is in there does a good job at moving it. Only has problems passing the local filling stations.
