I had four Fusion Power Plant DVC series 12's in my caravan (handed down from my parents when I was 17)

I ran all four of them with one Linear Power 500 watt amp at .5 ohms

It would go into thermal shut down after about ten minutes of full boar punishment, but damn was it LOUD!

Damn...Ours was good...never had any thermal problems with ours....But oh well..Some times the older they are, the more susceptible to wear/tear....oh well again....

You had a linear power amp running at half an ohm???

I'm talking about the amp not the subs.

Theres the problem Dan, we had ONE (1) Sub per amp, you on the other hand have overloaded the amp, thus creating MEGA HEATING/COOLING PROBLEMS.....OH WELL.....

That amp was actually stable at that impedance, but not at high levels for long periods of time.

Thats another problem, we were using COMPETITION subs, as you were, they are meant to be used for BRIEF time periods, now subs like the Sony Xplod's you can buy at wally world will hold up 2-1 over a competition sub as far as using it for extended time....
Overall, a comp. sub is best used for about 5-10min....Because of excess heat, etc.....

BUT.....again I was talking about the AMP overheating.

                  the AMP
