I didn't think I would like bleu cheese on a heavily peppered burger, but it was good. Enough for me to go bleu cheese on salads after that.

we can make bean soup too. actually we can make it in the turkey fryer pot ahead of time instead of hauling down the firebox and the cauldron. Or if someone has a big stock pot, we can just switch them out, whatever is easier. The fry pot's lid has been missing for a couple years now, so we'll have to use foil.

Contrary to popular belief, good American cheese is not "fake" cheese. It is real cheese. The problem is that some companies sell more processed cheese than others. There is actually a legal definition of American Cheese. That is why some is called "American Cheese Product" or "American Cheese Food". It doesn't met the legal definition. That is what Cheeze Whiz is...

And, I found it strange that American Cheese is white in NY, RI, and MA. I had a hard time finding "The Cheese" on my last vacation in the Adirondacks. Since I know you Mangs like food, here's a pic of the grill at the cabin on our first night:

There's chicken breast, smoked sausage, and chourico (another East thing) on the top and cajun tenderloins and burgers on the bottom. I think I gained 10 pounds that week.

the crap I've been exposed to as american cheese is mostly that fake process junk, so perhaps thats why I'm biased. I dont really care for the deli american cheese either tho. Its edible on a burger, but definitely not my first choice. The vinyl cheese in the plastic wrappers is what I use to feed my dogs pills. I don't even like touching it, its got the texture of a used condom.
reading this how-to guide, it sounds basically like how farmer's cheese is made. If thats what american cheese is supposed to taste like, this crap I've been getting fed for years is a horribly poor substitute.

Commercial American cheese is different than that how-to guide. American cheese in the individual slices is the lower "quality" stuff. It is at a higher level of processed. Good American Cheese is in blocks. The best American Cheese pales in comparison to a good cheddar. Using the words Gourmet and American Cheese together is an oxymoron like military intelligence, government organization or female gunman...

P72... you have to watch it around Scotts area. going thru Ohio was bad for me with cops all over. when i left Scott's place, there were cops hiding around bends of the HWY and behind stuff where you could only see their radar gun attached to the back door on side of the car. best to watch your speed since they hide and the hills will also heat the brakes when you try to slow down even harder from seeing a cop.

I'll put some in my suitcase for you. If you want I can send a selection for you. Postage will probably be a lot cheaper than what that site charges.

P72... you have to watch it around Scotts area. going thru Ohio was bad for me with cops all over. when i left Scott's place, there were cops hiding around bends of the HWY and behind stuff where you could only see their radar gun attached to the back door on side of the car. best to watch your speed since they hide and the hills will also heat the brakes when you try to slow down even harder from seeing a cop.
Thanks for the warning. I don't plan to be speeding like a damn fool though, maybe 75. That and a few short cuts should cut about 45 minutes off.

On the way to the first SF, I had the Talon hovering about 130mph on the PA turnpike.

Tea.
Earl Grey.
Hot.
Mercracer: I actually dont drink much whiskey, but if I do, its not JD. I cant stomach the stuff. Tullamore Dew is usually what I drink if I'm going to drink whiskey. Don't care for crown royal either, in spite of how popular it is. I did recently have some Johnny Walker Blue, and that was damn tasty. Straight out of the bottle passed around a bonfire, pure high class.

+2
Ohio is crawling with cops. They are behind every sign, every tree, every blade of grass, just waiting to shoot you with radar guns. They will get you and eat you for lunch. They are also pretty vicious in Southern Indiana, if your travels take you that way. I always managed to avoid them in rural KY and TN, even at speeds upwards of 90 mph. Though I don't recommend it.
Scottfest is a pretty long trip for me. I think it clocked in at almost 9 hours. I realize other people will be coming from farther away, but still, pretty far for me these days. All those drives to and from NC while I was dating and then after we married to visit her folk, that kind of killed my desire to do long road trips. Still, at the moment, I believe I am a go for Scottfest.

I did the mileage, finally.
2,800 miles, from my driveway, to Scott's.
One way.
If I drive out there, driving something getting 15 mpg, and if gas averages out to $3.20 a gallon....that's going to be around $1280 in fuel, round trip.
This was going to be a Geo Metro get-together, right?
Note, this isn't a complaint. This is simply some math being done. The other note is that if I drive out there, my wife has always wanted to see the Pennsylvania countryside (I think she is a closet Amish person). Oh, and she wants to bring the kids. Oh, and she wants to drive on to New York afterward. Oh, she also wants to go to the Met when we get there. I had planned on hiring hookers for the entire gang when I got there, but this definitely throws a monkey wrench into the whole works.

Ever been to NYC? If you're in PA, I think its worth going the extra distance (not that far in comparison), especially around the holidays. Just to see all the people and shit is crazy.
Well, if your whole gang is going, it'd definitely be cheaper to drive. How many kids do you have? Go rent a panther (or buy one) and drive that (if you can all fit comfortably with gear).

nyc isnt too terribly far away.....nice thing about skippyville is it is near the interstate.....when you are here there is so much to see within a 15 min-4 hr drive......better get the family truckster built......watch out for them strippin holes out here hehe........you can send for pa tourist info.....they will send you a map and a big packet of brochures....counties, sates all over the usa........my dad used to send for free tourist info.....big packs of brochures in the mail every day.........imo tho that is one hell of a family vacation doing it that way stopping along the way to see stuff instead of buzzing down the interstate at ludicrous speed pumped up on coffee and fruitcake....plan ypur route, see stuff along the interstate and get food, stretch out etc......might take you a couple days to get out here but hell you'll be relaxed and have taken in all the sights of all that neat stuff....you and the family going to fit in a metro?.

ok ok ok . i should be at 95% chance on going. the marauder.....eh, well, at this point, it doesnt look like the marauder is going to make it. i mean, after destroying the clutch-packs and the overdrive bands... not lookin to good. the new built tranny and the tq converter will cost $2300-$2500. not exactly in the budget yet. i do, however still have reverse. it wouldnt be that bad to drive from buffalo, ny in reverse no would it?
the Tank of Justice II will get the start for this event. i think itll be fun. plus my girlfriends parents live in Hamburg,PA; which is right down the road. i am looking forward to this.
Hey 87vicFIVEO, you still up for the convoy from buffalo?

I have a Marauder torque converter I'll give to you for free. Bonedriver (Tom) gave me his old one, but I don't have a use for it. I just took it out of his trunk to save him some weight. If you pay for shipping I can send it to you, or I'll bring it to SF08, if you plan on waiting until then to fix your car.
I went to Skippyville for the first time on Saturday, and I plan on going there again in August. I'll trailer up the Fairlane to go joy riding, so I'll be there to snap all your heads back like a Pez dispenser. :lol3: At 8mpg, I don't plan on driving it 3 hours. My F250 will get 14mpg towing, so it's the lesser of two evils.
