thats the J-mod. Check out the 3rd one down. And READ Ford OD 101. That will also apply to your AOD and AODE transmissions.

You are going on the guidance of one of the ENGINEERS of the 4R70W. You are essentially opening the fluid passages in the valve body and removing or changing the acc springs.

This is HIGHLY reccomended. As it will remove the lag in gear changes which according to THE ENGINEER will reduce clutch wear by lowering the energy transfered to them.

Bottom line--> It WILL lengthen the life of your transmission and give you firmer quicker shifts.

I think that if I ever do this project, I'll be taking it to someone else to have it done. The engine scares me, but the transmission makes me cry. I don't think I want to start digging into it. But cool info, thanks for sharing!

Since my car is a 1993, would it have the AODE or the 4R70W? Just curious.

You ever dropped your trans pan before. See all those 8 or 10 MM bolts that are usually dripping fluid. you will just have to undo those.

Very general and VERY brief description.

I think you would have the AODE for that year, I don't think the 4R70W showed up until 1994 or 95 in the Lincoln.

4r70W wes. Mid 92 is when the AOD was phased out.
