    need help identifying some items...

what does this connector plug into? it is on the passenger side of the engine and it is sitting on the back of the valve cover. it looks electrical and has a very thin gauge wire.

next question... what is the name of this?

both items are in this section of the engine bay.

yes, i know my engine is filthy. i refuse to clean it until i take care of a couple things.

    thanks in advance.

that second thing you posted is the vacuum controller for your EGR.

That first pic you posted is hard to see in these pics but looks like a vacuum line end

The one wire thing that you posted in your first picture looks like a wire for a sending unit. Such as low oil light or something in that sense. My car has a couple of them, that were for the red idiot light for the engine. Look around that area for something that has like a threaded stud coming out of it. It should be a little smaller than the diameter of the of the wire connector. To maybe help you, does something that should light up on your dash when you first start up your car not come on?

If that is a wire that is connected to it. If not it's probably what Seneeb said.
