PI heads on Lincoln MK8 bottom end

A friend of mine is in the process of putting PI Heads and Cams on a 93 lincoln MK8 bottom end. Do you think there will be any clearance issues?

How much PTV clearance should there be?

The mk8 had the 32v DOHC motor.

...and I'm pretty sure the PI heads are SOHC, which if I'm not mistaken would be a slight downgrade from the DOHC heads...

Help us understand what the goal is, here.

The motor is going into a 94 Crown vic wich needs to remain SOHC.

By using the MK8 bottom end and using the PI heads is suppose to bump the compression up pretty high.

If you're running stock pistons for the DOHC, you're looking at close to 11:1 compression. Is this gonna be a street motor?

From what I hear, you might get by with it if you use a set of adjustable cam gears. Bottom line: mock it up.

It will be used for a race motor.

It has been mocked up, we have less then .100 PTVC

How much is less than .100? You might have to go to a cam with less lift. The adjustable cam gears will help a little but surely won't work a miracle. Or you could notch the existing pistons or order some new ones.

He was thinking about just using the stock 4.6 cams instead of the PI cams.

I will ask him what the actual clearance measurements were and I will post them.

Mark VIII uses different pistons, I take it?

Yuppers, they are pretty close to being flattops, but I can't remember the exact numbers.

Are the cams in a 93 lincoln the same as the cams in a 94 vic?

Do you mean the cams from a 93 lincoln town car? If so, the cams should be the same from 91-95. If you are referring to the Mark VIII, then...well, you are just being silly. :p
