    new merq... need help...

    Hey all.
I just purchased a 1991 Grand Marquis, it is in perfect shape with only 115,000 miles om it. I just turned 16 and the Merq will be my first car. And a good one for only $1200. I was just wondering what I could do to it. I want to put a stereo system in it, but I just dont know what else to do, so if anyone has any easy and cheap upgrades they could pass my way, I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Jarid

first, welcome to GMN! congrats on your purchase. as for cheap upgrades, you can do dual exhaust, gears(check your door sticker. under AX, look for the letter K. thats a 3.55 with trac-loc) alot of people convert the motor to a mustang ho motor as well. unfortunately with these cars, power is not cheap, lol but a dual exhaust and a possible gear upgrade will serve you well

    again welcome

      Welcome to your new home!!

You are driving a full size car now. What ever you want to do you can do. No limitations on space or for the most part weight. Power is a must. They are pretty good for a stock car, but are easy to mod. And, it's a 5.0L, so there are lots of aftermarket parts available. Brouse through the Reader's Rides forum and gather some ideas.

Good choice for a first car, It's going to be my last car too

                    Welcome to the site.

Don't forget you'll need to bypass your factory premium sound amp, if you're installing an aftermarket deck. If you in fact do, have premium sound. I'm sure you do.
