    electric fan

i went spalunking in the J-Yard today an picked up a Mark VIII electric fan!!!! HI-OO!
since i just put a new water pump in, i really didnt want to put that dumb pump driven atrocity on there. wired it up. i turn it on whenever its needed. the engine feels much more responsive. and the pick up isnt that bad either. i approve. that fan is 18" across. ill post pics in the morning. im lazy now.

i didnt wire it into the thermostat control stuff.
i just put the switch in the cab, and turn it on whenever i need. i do mostly highway driving, and my test results conclude that i really dont need a fan on the highway.

there were 3 wires coming from the fan.
a blue one and two black ones.
the blue on is power. and the black one on the end of the connection is the negative.
the other black cable just shorts everything out.

i have a direct feed from the battery with a 60A inline fuse which goes into the swtich in the cab.
i then from there to the fan, and then fan to the negative battery terminal.

and yep, i can feel a difference.

the other black is for controlling speed. it's a dual speed fan setup, low speed for normal usage, high speed when a/c is on and heavy load causing more engine heat.

Why not just get a Panther fan that is 20" across that bolts right on?
