    workin' on marauder tranny removal

if some of you dont know, i totally bombed out the tranny of the marauder last december.
im finally getting around to removing it and resolving that problem.
i blew out the clutch packs and destroyed the over drive bands.
i took out the tranny pan and i found lots of metal shavings and chunks.
and as you can see, that fluid isnt exactly the cleanest stuff.
if you look at the 10 o'clock position on the magnet, you can see a large chunk of metal.
    rock on,

what would be a good offer on a used 4R70W with a used PI 3500 stall?
i have someone on MM.net that has one laying around his garage and he told me to make him an offer.
what do you think is reasonable?

PI meaning what, police car? I doubt those were 3500. Generally, I pay core prices for used transmissions, and just automatically assume they're dead or dying. 400 is probably about all I'd pay for a trans I can have rebuilt for a grand.

50k could be a lot of 1/4 mile passes, or it could be 50k of granny driving. It might work like new, or maybe it will explode the first time you put your foot down. Used converters are also a crap shoot. Maybe it was on a trans that grenaded and its full of metal, maybe its like brand new. The last used trans I bought was an AOD that I paid 200 bucks for. Before that it was a VW Beetle transaxle I bought for 100 bucks. Used, no warranty, worked when removed. The VW one worked OK, the AOD also worked fine but when i had it serviced, the pan was loaded with silver clutch material. Luck of the draw.

Yeah that trans probably worked fine when removed. I'd love to have the trans out of that car, it would be an honor :worship:
