    digital speedo failure

    Hi All,

I have a 96 Marquis with a digital speedo that sometimes stops working for a few minutes (it just goes to 0), usually after start up but occasionally while driving. It comes back on but is happening more often now. I am assuming it is a sensor somewhere. Any suggestions on what check and how to fix this problem?

    Thank you,
    Chris

i dont have a whole lot of knowlage in this area, but it sounds to me that the VSS(vehicle speed sensor) is crapping out. its located by the tailshaft of the trany, easy install.

could be the vss, could be wiring, could be internal in the cluster (like a semi broked solder joint)
