New tires for the bullitts, what size? Part 2A -

    I didn't want to hi-jack this thread,
    http://www.grandmarq.net/vb/showthread.php?t=28116
but I had some questions about some bullit 'stang wheels I found on Craigslist in my area. They're from 2001, and are staggered with 255/55/17's in the rear and 215/45/17's in the front.

Are the front tires too thin for my 99 GMQ? I've looked at the stickies and other threads to find out, and even tried searching the FAQ's, so please don't think I didn't look there.

And if it so happens that I didn't find a thread with this information already being covered, just let me know, and this thread can go away

    Thanks!

I am gonna tell you straight up. My bullitts have 245 and they already look too thin. Its an 8 inch wide wheel and 245's just stick out pass the side of the wheel. 215's just seem to small. Plus with 215's you have absolutely NO wheel protection from curbs. Bottom line is that they will be to small, considering how small 245's already look.

But i am just a silly person with part one of the bullitt tire size thread...so take my words with grain of salt.

Wow, how'd they get 215s mounted on there?

As mentioned in the other thread(s) 235/55/17 is the stock size on newer crown vics. Those would be the minimum I'd run. 245/45 works, I've run those for quite some time without any issues other than a crappy ride. 215/45/17 is the size I ran on my protege! And I broke the rims hitting potholes....

I have no idea how this dude got these tires on there, but this is the link:

lol @ the rims breaking hitting potholes, but something tells me that you aren't kidding...

i could just take it for the wheels and invest in a pair of 255/55/17's, then all would be good

Haha, well if being silly means giving me valuable information, then you're just damn goofy dude! I'm taking what you sayin as very valuable, you're the one with these tires on there, and your original post was very helpful too!

My car has 245/45's on 8" wide 18" wheels. They are great.

            215 is tooooo small.
