Nifty reference! I'd whine about it not including the ubiqiotus grey 14 lb. injector, but I doubt anyone really wants to see one of those ever again. :D

used in lopo 5.0's and the venerable 2.3L EFI motor.

The 2.3 too? I didn't know that. Was that only the base injected 2.3, and the turbo cars got bigger injectors?

What's a gray fuel injector from?

That'd be a 14 lb, I believe. LO 5.0, and 2.3, as Mike stated above.

Thanks,

So if someone says they have an HO for sale and it has gray injectors I would doubt it's an HO....

I'm still curious about the answer between the different 2.3 motors, since I've been too distracted to look it up on my own ...

What different 2.3 motors? The turbo and non-turbo version? Thats really about the only different 2.3 I'm aware of, other than that funky 8 spark plug version used in Rangers.

What kind of difference would I expect to see if I upgraded from the stock injectors? Is this something I could do myself?

You can't change injectors without changing the ECM tune to go with it. Putting a 19# where a 14# lived will give you approximately 35% too much fuel at any given injector pulsewidth. So basically what you'd see is a car that ran horrible and got crappy fuel mileage, and would eventually self destruct from washing the oil off the cylinder walls and contaminating the oil with excess fuel. If the ECM were re-tuned to deal with a 19#, it would work but the stock engine just doesn't need more fuel so there is no point to it. Its also possible that the stock ECM won't accept a tune anyway. I don't believe its listed in what the tweecer supports. Doubt anyone would even bother messing with a lopo ecm anyhow. The first step towards making any power is switching things to HO spec, and those computers are all tunable.

And yes, this is something you can do yourself. Pull the upper intake, disconnect the rail, unbolt the 4 bolts holding it in, unplug the injectors, and off it comes. The injectors just sit sandwiched between the rail and the manifold, and are sealed with O rings. No magic to replacing them, just pull the old out, lube the O rings, and push the new one in.

So it would more or less be an exercise in futility unless I was going with the HO bits and the computer as well, then? Thanks for the great explanation.

injectors cam and ecm need to come in one step......mixes have been tried, many have failed
