heres my flowmaster 44's, 3" turndowns, and 2.5" pipes I bent myself haha. I got it all hooked up tonight and it sounds unreal... you can really feel the bass and there's no rasp at all just smooth, clean, deep thumping. I still have stock manifolds FOR NOW and 4 cats, and I'm welding in an H-pipe fairy soon allong with welding on the turndowns. but the fairly straight pipes and dumped 44's are still amazing. I will get a video and pics of the new setup very soon.

oh quick question, how much will an H-pipe do for me in terms of HP, torque and sound? These pipes will be replaced by mustang catted H-pipe in 8 months or so when I put on headers... so if it isn't necessary I won't put one in on these pipes.

If you are going to put a catted H in down the road don't waste your time now.

haha oh yehh I like the chrome coat hangers idea ha, and its metal tape on the diff. I got some hangers to weld on to when i get to my buddys to use the mig. hmhm

Well there's dualies on a highschoolers budget, haha ...speeking of which, street sign poles are 2.5" if anyone's wondering...

Its pretty cool, its my first time making noticible power and its fun, the intake I made paired with the duals isn't much I know, but I did feel a pretty good difference... only the beginning, hehe.

heres a quick vid I finally got on here... its in the long sound absorbing grass in our yard so it sounds quieter than it actually is on road but you will get the point ha. I will get a good vid tomorrow now that I figured it out.

I'm loving it by the way!

Sounds awesome, very deep and not too loud but I think you should take out the first 2 cats :D And the coat hangers and metal tape are awesome, wish I had thought of the tape. Do you think the exhaust would be too hot for zip-ties if I tried to use them temporarily for hangers? I'd figure they'd melt but I don't know for sure and I don't want to risk cracked pipes or cracking my cheap headers.

If you are going to put a catted H in down the road don't waste your time now.
I know they're 2 totally different vehicles, but it cost me $30 to have an H-pipe welded into my Silverado's exhaust. My exhaust is also 2.5" and it runs down both sides (not the passenger side like newer trucks) so it'd be about the same length of pipe needed. Mine also needed a slight bend to go around the tailhousing, don't know if you'll need that or not. Took like 30 minutes to do so I say go for it, 30 bucks and 30 minutes aren't bad at all for the increased torque, economy and a deeper less raspy tone.

In the spring after the road salt leaves i'm going to put on some headers and all new custom mandrel bent pipes with a single hi-flow cat on each pipe to the dumped flowmasters still of course...and h-pipe put in. when i get out of school and into a job i will be in heaven when it comes to spending on this car. haha. E-testing is on its game around here so i gotta stay on top of it.

well i have a chrome cover and i had thrown the tape on for fun before i put the new one on and i honestly like the raw aluminum look of the tape more...so its still on there. Allot of buddys and people ask me about it and they think its the real aluminum cover lol.

and yeh zip ties melt, and quick. my buddy found that out. coat hangers are one of my main resources around here.

the sound is really deep and thumps, and its loud but insanely smooth with no rasp and for some reason the camera doesn't want to capture that for me. but i will get a good vid eventually and post it. my buddys dad made me pop the hood because he thought i was joking about having a 150hp 302 under there... well a whopping 160hp now lol.

Once you have a decent exhaust on just about any car, you'll start having a hard time convincing people that the engine is stock. Kudos to you and your pipe bending skilz. My Mustang H-pipe hangs far too low and will eventually have to be replaced.

Packman's right. No one believes me when I tell them I have a 305 in my Sierra. I always get the "dude that thing has to have a 350, it sounds awesome." They really don't sound much different, the 4" bore just makes it sound a little deeper but it's hard to tell by ear which is which with the same exhaust setup.

Hello Merc91 and other panther owners I'm Hootowl and am new to the forum but a been visiting as a guest for a few months now. Anyway I just want to let you know I have a 1988 MGM 5.0 which I bought in March of this year. I paid $1000 for it which is in pretty good shape but has some rear end damage which was not repaired the best but it works.

It just needed minor stuff so far such as shocks, brakes, muffler and other things and still working on it as I go. It is a backup/work car for now. Speaking of mufflers the old muffler blew out in front and 2 things I notice when this happen. First the car sounded really good and second the engine ran much easier and shifted better. So I wanted a performance muffler on it when I replaced it.

I found a performance muffler shop that lets you listen to different mufflers on the car before you buy it. Did I mention that it sounded pretty good and not to loud without a muffler. Anyway I thought I should have a muffler on the single exhaust. Did not have the money for duels. I choose a Flowmaster super Delta 44 and the shop guy convince me to have a 2.5" tailpipe pipe on. I wanted the standard 2" so I can keep the low end torque since I drive 60% city and 40% highway to work. So after I had it put on it is not noisy just a low rumble and I cannot heard it when cruising in the cabin. The gas mileage went up 2 MPG to between 19-20 average after 4 tankfuls now.

So a set up for a single exhaust like this would be a good compromise to the duel set up and then you can always add to the other side later. That is my IMHO.

Hootowl.

Depends on how far back they are. If you're using them back at the tailpipes, the exhaust is usually cooled off enough that it more than likely wouldn't be a problem. However, they aren't the strongest things in the world - I don't think I'd trust them. You don't want to end up in my "Sins of the Previous Owner" thread, do you? :p

The exhaust looks good, by the way. Very impressed with how it came out, especially using one of those cheap tubing benders. I always figured that they wouldn't work with something so thin.
