Last night at Burger King, when I was up against the building in the drive thru, I noticed what sounded like a ticking or clicking coming out of my engine. The car still funs great, but the noise has me worried. Anyone else experienced this?

probably an exhaust leak... check the air injection/smog pipes goingn down to the cat converters.

Another possibility would be a lifter that's not pumped up all the way. Do you hear it all the time, or does it come and go?

Or the car is telling you to stop eating such bad food because it makes you fart into the seat.

I'm thinking the exhaust as well. My cats tick a bit and it's more apparent when next to something (cars, building, divider, ect.) since the sound bounces.

Mine is more of a clacking noise, kinda like what a diesel makes. It's not noticeable when I have the caps closed, but apparent when I have the cut-outs open.

It comes and goes. I got scared and parked it for a couple days, thinking it was a rod, but rods don't tick as far as I know, they just make one loud bang. Every time I try to chase the sound down, it goes away. It's been worrying the hell out of me.

Is it like a farting ticking? The smog pump sometimes makes noise like that.

Rods don't make a single loud bang. When the bearings wear out, you hear a knocking sound. It will do this for years and many miles before getting bad enough to be a concern. If it doesn't make the rattle of death sound in the morning, don't worry about it.

Rattle of death?

The death rattle is that hollow loud knocking rattle that it makes in the morning before you build oil pressure. Its from the non-existant main bearings allowing the crankshaft to flop around like a dead fish before oil fills the gaps up.

90 weight takes care of that rattle. My car has done it for some time. Still runs ok.
