Hi All,

I live in The Netherlands (a.k.a. Holland) in Europe.
So I'm Dutch.
I was erected in the year 1961.
My Mercury Grand Marquis was build in 1996.

Geographics: I live in a little county by the name of Twente, 100 miles east of Amsterdam, near the German border.

A Mercury Grand Marquis is a special appearance around here. A real headturner.
With gasprices 3 times as high as in the USA, it will stay special too.
1 gallon = US$ 6,20

In Europe, we are used to double a mileage as this car ever will reach.

Well, I hope that I will find fun and info on this board.

See you (maybe),

Arie

HI, and welcome!!

You might see Tom some time, since he is heading over to Europe soon.

You should be able to get 30mpg or so. And I wouldn't mind moving to Europe, but a lot of the roads are not big enough for our cars, and the gas does put a hinderance, however as I hear it I don't think you get taxed on everything like we do either. So that kind of balances the gas prices.

I was asked when I was 17, "If gas went up to $8.00 a gallon, would you still drive that car?" My answer was YES!! The extra cost of driving this car is no different than spending 80,000 on a Viper. I pay because I like!!

We have a tax here thats called "holder's tax". Because one has a car, he has to pay tax. Even if you don't drive it that much.
For my Merc. Gr. Marquis I have to pay over US $ 1,000 per year.

We pay about 40% of our salary on incometax.

Everything you buy over here is taxed with 19% VAT !

This is a very overcrowded country. So real estate is very expensive.
Then you finally got something.................and..... your guessing right......property tax!

If I visit another city and sleep in a hotel or visit a touristattraction........touristtax!

But..............hé, I'm healthy. And we have the best beer over here (Heineken and Grolsch) (ok, with a lot of VAT and excise) But it's still cheaper than gas...

The Netherlands are east of England. We are divided by the "Nordsea"
That's a swim of about 300 miles I think.

I think you will like it in England. Very strong accents sometimes.
Even if you articulate very good, they still brabble their own 'language' back to you.
But very friendly people, especially in the south.
We (my wife and I) had a few holidays there.

And............your welcome to visit us of course.

In The Netherlands we are as interested in Baseball, as Americans are in Soccer.
Soccer is very big here! Our greatest player is very well known in the whole (soccer)world ---> Johan Cruyff, he is even more famous than Pele.

Baseball is in The Netherlands as big as Table Footbal (Fuzzball ???)

Me, myself and I are not interested in any kind of sport.

Waiting till you retire? And then aspect to marry a tall Dutch woman? Come over here now...............while you are such a good catch.

Not that it would be any problem, just curious.............. :D

a mistress?? what do you mean??

But I say retire becuase there's no way Id be able to afford the trip and relocation, and I dont know what kind of work there is for me over there. Also isnt it very hard to establish yourself there? like some loophole that you have to work there for 6 months before you can establish your own residence???

Im 6 foot 2" something myself, and Id like a lady close to my caliber :D I fell in love with one (close to 6 foot dutch girl) at school... she was on the field hockey team.
Ive never before seen such beauty... and havent since then! Her voice made me weak. I couldnd have asked for better body proportions....

Are there any mail order husband programs over there... for Dutch lady athletes???

Yes, it sounds like you have met a Dutch girl.......... they are all that beautiful.

No mail order husband programs.................sorry.

However..........If you come over here and learn to walk with wooden shoes, you can pick anyone you like and take her home with you.
You won't regret it!
They all cook very well.
And while cooking, they sing and swing a little, wearing only a tiny apron.
There isn't much obesity over here...........

Oh well, you probably don't believe me anyway............

That's even better.
If you get bored by her, it's easier to swap / change!

Staying over here is very easy, if you marry a Dutch girl, you are entitled to live here.

well if you know of any early 20's aged women over there who share our fondness of these cars, tell them I want to marry them!!

Though they would need to be wealthy... becuase at least at this point in my life, I dont have a very good job and couldnt afford even a ticket over there

As for blonde brunette, or rehead... I think they are all beautiful!! Im not picky about things like that. She wouldnt even need to be drop dead georgeous... just have wholesome girl-next-door good looks

Do you think if i went of there and got a dutch woman to fall in love with me, that she would let me live with her untill I got a job and all that??
Maybe I can find a professional working Dutch woman, and I could be a 'house husband' :D :D

As long as you don't have a job, you'll get wellfare.
A 'house husband' is called here a 'houseman' which is a male 'housewife'.
No problem, you wouldn't even attract attention.

So..........I can write you down for a plain looking, grey haired woman, with not much household-skills then?

What do you prefer?
Sophisticated of Trailer-trashy?

nonono!!! Only anything out of the 3 colors mentioned :D

And heck, if she has nice enough looks and personality, she doesnt need to have houshold skills!
I actually dated a girl who didnt cook and clean... not even for herself.
It wouldn't have been too bad, except she didnt have too much of a personality.

Oh, you lucky connoisseur !

There is just one tiny little catch, though:
She's a woman now for about 3 years, her first 30 years she was a man! But, it really doesn't show (almost).
She shaves herself 2 times a day (all over)

I've been there.
Bit of a dull village.

thus...I expect you soon!

From Cambridge to Harwich with the train is about 1,5 hour.

The ride with the Seacat from Harwich to Hook of Holland is about 3,5 hours.

Then 2 hours with the train.

So, you can be here in 7 hours after leaving that moldy village of Cambridge.

Thats enough time to get a huge thurst an for me to get the beer icecold.
