    I hate changing batteries

Just got done changing my battery just to find out my alternator is crap.
Has anyone seen any cheap alternators on the web? I keep seeing $200 alts. I know thats the average price but i dont have much money.

BTW this happened on my 2001 chevy blazer...

    Im getting tired of this...

Go to a junkyard and buy one. You sure it''s the alternator, and not some stupid wiring connection or something?

And why is this in the 4.6 forum? This should be in OTB!

Im sorry, i thought i wrote that it happened to my GM. What i meant to say is that it happened to my GM and mentioned that the same thing happened earlier this year with my blazer.

Its definitely the alternator because all the symptoms were the same with my blazer. I might go to the junkyard to get a "new" one. Its just annoying that one thing gets fixed then something else goes bad. I know why it did this also so im not worrying about it that much.

Bug Scotty and Ivan and they can send you a good 3G for a great price.

Im starting to think its my starter because if its my alternator then my whole dash and all other lights would go out when i start. The car just has a problem starting. I hope thats what it is because that would be cheaper to replace.

EDIT: I just read on a bmw forum that it could be the ethenol gas. I think nys changes the formula in the gas for the winter. Well, i guess no more Mobil for me. Ill try Red Apple since they have regular gas. I might do some Lucas treatment as well.

Anyone else got any ideas what could be going on? The car has 146,000 miles but had a tune-up before i bought it.

So it's hard to start and that's why you thought it was the alternator? Pull the starter and have it tested and go from there. Starters get old and tired, expecially if they get crudded up with oil and stuff.

Check and clean all your grounds in the charging system. There is something wrong if its taking that much voltage to start the car.
