    fuel pump?

    OK the prob with my 95 town car the acceleration drags a bit the car doesnt always take off the spot when the gas is hit. It takes like 2 sec. after i hit the gas.

    I was told that it can be the fuel pump is going bad which i hope rather than the transmission going bad.

    What can it be?

    check the throttle position sensor

    1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt

      If it was the transmission the engine would rev a bit before taking off.
      I'm with Scott, it's probably the throttle position sensor. You could take it off and have a local auto parts store check it for free.

        It does kind of sound like the engine revs up a bit like it moving but it really isn't

          I would also replace the fuel filter. Check your trans fluid too.

            The trans fluid is fine but I'm not sure how old the fuel filter is I barely got the car

              if you dont know how old it is, replace it. they're like 10 bucks.
