Hey whats up, I have a question and i am not sure where it need to go but here it goes. I have a 97 mgm 4.6 V8 and it has 225,000 miles and still going strong. but lately when the can is in park i noticed that the engine itself shake every now and then, also when i rev it up i have been told that the muffler spits out a little bit of water. is that normal? And when i am at a stop light and then press the gas my merc will shake a little as it picks up speed and the check light will then start to flash for a while and stay on. does anyone know what might be the problem i love my car me and her have been go hell and back. help me please!!!!!

probably needs a tune up. How old are the plugs, wires, and fuel filter?
the moisture in the exhaust is normal with a cold engine.
moisture in the exhaust is normal
the flashing CEL is a misfire, probably time for a tuneup, most likely wires are the cause, dirty injectors are also suspect

Okay thanks on the exhaust part. i think its time for a tune up too. what does a good super tune up consist of. also how can i tell if my injectors are bad or dirty.
plugs, wires, fuel filter, pcv valve, air filter
get some injector cleaner you pour in the tank, spend money on the good stuff
sea foam is good stuff also

Catalytic Converter damaging if it flashes on and off.
a flashing CEL is a current misfire, yes this can damage the cat, but thats not what is causing it to flash
GrandMerc97 if I was a betting man, I would say your plug wires are the root cause; dirty injectors are also a possibilty, but the wires being old is alot more probable

I took my 94 Vic to the Ford dealer for a CEL and it was around $50 for the diagnoses.
