    Speedo gear removal

So I'm finally getting around to swapping my speedo gear to the right one but for some reason I cant get the old one out.
I take off the bracket and pull but it feels like it's caught or something.
    I tried tugging/twisting but nothing.
it comes out about half an inch and stops.
    any suggestions?

You're pulling the VSS right? SHould be just that one bolt holding the retainer in, and then it slides out. There aren't any other fasteners or anything like that, it just pushes in the hole and seals with an O ring.

try giving it a wiggle. maybe it's catching on the lip of the hole.
