It looks neat. My mother had a late 70's T bird. I like the look of them. I suspect that it would be a money pit. Definitely something you would want to look over thoroughly before purchasing.
10+ . I ordered a brandly new 77 T-Bird, waited 5 months for it, owned it 5 months, 2 of which it was at the dealer while they fixed one major thing after another, lost 2 grand getting the hell rid of the POS. WORST car I've ever owned, and I have owned over 40 at this point. RUN IMHO!

I always like those years of T-bird/cougar.
Which engine does it have though?
Probably a 429, if so, buy it, and give me the engine

It is the 351M. is that necessarily a bad thing??
And I DONT need another car!!! Id have to sell one (more like two) if i bought this, but I dont wanna give any up!!!
I think Im just captivated by the idea of color matched mint green turbines
And Im itchy for something reminiscent of my old LTD II these days, and daydreaming of converting an old carbed something to EFI.
Since we're on topic...I saw a late '70s T-bird today. Tan with a white vynal top. No for sale sign though. Anyway, the 351M is a decent motor. If you're "willing and able" to sell a box or two, then go for it. If not, just move on as the others have said...

My Dad, who was a ford mechanic for over 30 years never had anything good to say about the 351M. He always said that the 351M and the 360 were absolute dogs in regards to their displacement. One of the reasons I bought my 78' marquis was because it had the 400, not the 351M. I guess the extra displacement helped a lot (?)....I dunno. And before anyone says anything.....he only thought the 400 was "okay", not great. My Dad really liked the 352 and the 390 (especially the 352). Anyway......I always got told if got something with a 351 to make sure it was a windsor.
Anyway......those mint green turbines would fit a box.....
it hurts me to say no......i loved those cars........maybe yes if it has t tops
the panther handles and rides better......dont you remember pete?
i bought a 84 cvpi for the 351 for my 78 cougar xr7 in 1995.......well i got the vic engine running to confirm it was good for the cougar, and i made the mistake of driving the car.......i never looked back.......yes that bird is sweet, but where you gonna find the parts to restore it? you think panther parts are hard to find lol.

The 351M is one of those engines that was severely crippled by tightening emissions laws. You can get some decent power out of them if you wanted to spend the money to make it right, but it's not really worth it.
Thanks for steering me away mangs... lol, i definitely don't need another project. Id kick myself hard if i got rid of a good road trip box and a good beater box and wound up with a money pit...
Although, if the thing was black with red interior, id probably be going to look at it

Although its not a barn burner in stock form, Jon Kaase entered a 400 in the Engine Master's Challenge in 2008, and won.
