HO Mustang Intake Plenum Spacer...Worth it?

Are these worth it? What can I expect from installing one? I wanna paint up the set of mustang valve covers I have and install them but want a reason to upgrade while I have the upper plenum off. So again, any positive experiences with intake spacers? And if so which size...and what sizes could fit underneath the hood?

the spacer has two benefits one it increases the length of the runners, and two it helps the intake clear the valve covers.

It also helps keep the upper intake cool, and as a result it helps keep the air charge cool. I doubt it helps much but it won't hurt any.

Also supposedly helps reduce heat transfer to the upper intake.

i have one on the towny and one on the grand marquis, both for clearance reasons.....on the towny to clear the tall valve covers, and on the grand marquis to clear the explorer fuel pressure regulator and fuel rail........but yea it's supposed to keep the upper cooler and lenghten the runners slightly for better power.

with a functional egr, its only purpose is valve cover clearance

I guess a 1" the runner length might help, but 1/2" aint gonna do much

I had two cheapies split in the middle around the EGR port, but they weren't phenolic spacers. Phenolic should handle the heat OK.

The EGR pulls hot exhaust gas through the upper intake, so it will tend to heat the intake up.

Is this along the same lines as a TB Spacer? Ive heard you can gain up to 20hp in some cases.... but have a hard time believing this. Does it actually do anything besides act as a shiny heat sink... in either case whether it is a intake spacer or TB spacer? (yeah I know they are different parts, sorry for confusion)

Its mostly a thermal insulator, same as the TB spacer. I seriously doubt its good for any significant gains, at least not enough to actually be felt. Mostly its used to fit shiny valve covers, which add more horsepower anyway, especially if you get the kind with a cool name on them.
