    is that the rear or front? and your towncar is awsome!

      wow... Really? never seen a rear axle or axle bearing before?

      1st picture... Left REAR axle, notice where the bearing rides is pitted.
      2nd picture... Left Axle bearing, notice how the rollers are pitted.

        i was thought it was the rear. but, i was just making sure since i have no clue on whats involved with the fronts on new panthers lol.

          Yeah... RWD = no axles in the front.

            i never looked at the pic close...the axle shaft looked like a spindle lol

              looks like what came off my 88 MGM. spacer bearing... re-install pitted axle (spacer bearing will move the bearing out some so it rides on a fresh spot of the axle) and have a nice day.

                i used a couple sets of axle repair bearings already, but they always leak

                1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt
                2006 Lincoln Town Car Signature. Stock for now
                1989 Ford F-250 4x4 much much more to come, sefi converted so far.
                1986 Toyota pickup with LSC wheels and 225/60/16 tires.
                2008 Hyundai Elantra future Revcon toad

                  right... repair bearings are junk, never had one that didn't leak after a couple weeks.

                    had my rear axle rebuilt with a spacer bearing last year. No leaks... and I beat the hell outta my car.

                      both of mine sprung leaks almost immediately. Replaced the repair bearings and it leaked again within about a week. Gave up and installed a pair of new axles and standard bearings with seals, no more problems.
                      86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

                        do it right with new axle and bearing. the other way never works right

                              Are you sure the axle is cast? I always thought they were forged for high strength.
