Hey guys. I have a question about a gas tank... My 91 wagon is rusty. I pulled the 89 Crown vic tank out and in the process of putting it back in the wagon... However I already junked the old tank out of the wagon and I cant seem to get the 89 tank in. I dont know what I'm doing wrong or whats the difefrence here? The 89 is just a four door box car by the way.
I cant even get the bands on and it seem like the gas tank is already hitting the body. even if I bend the bands it wouldnt help. They're just simply to short. It wont reach. Can somebody give me some info on this?? Thanks

i thought the wagons received a different gas tank...bigger to be exact...could be wrong though. maybe the design is just different, do they look the same?

damn... I just orderded it man. $200 fucking dolars. I figured no one wouldnt want to ship out a gas tank but I guess i'm wrong.... you wouldnt have the fuel pump now would you? Cause I figured out it was different. It's another 89 dollars.

Ohh And another thing... Do yall know if the gas filler tube from my 89 will work on the waggon? The waggon is straight and the 89 is curved... I'm not sure if I can use it. till the gas tank comes in on thursday. Thanks for the help guys!

I just mentioned it, no idea whether it'd be troublesome, especially for a used tank (NAPA told me that even brand-new exhaust pipes had to ship as hazardous materials for some reason).
The pump is laying around somewhere, though I wouldn't recommend actually trusting my old in-tank pump, as I ran the tank dry quite a few times whilst driving with no gas gauge. $90 for a new electric pump is expensive compared to my mechanical pumps ($17 and $55) but doesn't sound quite as bad after paying $250 for a replacement for the Cavalier ..... do the new Ford pumps come with the brackets and tank mounting plate like GM pumps do?
I do have a '79 wagon filler neck if you find you need it. Might even know where it is, too!

I believe the wagon fill neck is wagon specific.

It's all wagon specific....
If you get a generic fuel pump- just the phyiscal pump, it will work. The pickup/mount is quite different though.
