Hey guys! I have recently purchased a 80 lincoln mark series. It is a tudor. I actually bought this thing for weight and parts. I would keep it but as you know I have too many projects as is. Plus I dont have a title. Now lets get to the facts

It has the 351 windsor that got to knocking and guy said it just shut off with him. The interior is white and is in good shape. all the little switches and everything else is in good shape. All the chrome pieces on the car is still nice like the mirrors, bumpers, grill. All the lights on the car are real nice shape.

The motor does have a new holley 600 and edelbrock performer intake that I will be keeping and the kickdown cables as well.

If ya guys need anything feel free to make a post... I'll be gladly to sell you anything for a good price.

Now here's the pictures

Yeah... I have six total. I've already have enough projects around here to keep me busy. LOL.

I admit that it is a nice looking car but I personally like my other ones better. And it does have some rust back there at the back glass. He took and sanded it and spray painted it. you can still see the pitting it has left. It's not an all perfect car but decent. It does have some issues with it that I do not like.

I may be coming up to check this one out soon.

Is that a Signature? If nobody buys it, I have need of the dash trim if its the right kind. I really hope someone buys it. I just don't have the room or wallet for another project right now though.

Nope, this is just regular luxury package version, not a signature series trim.

Brandon

Not a signature series

Since I can really only afford to keep 2 projects afloat at one time, I'm considering dumping my LTD Vic, and getting this in its place.

Decisions... Decisions... :ugha:

does yours have gas shocks for the trunk lid, or torsion bars? The 82 Towncar I robbed a lot of parts from had gas shocks. I never knew they ever came with those.

i gots the gas struts. i wish it was the torsion bar style. they are a pain in the ass. i bought a set of ebay once that were suposed to be new but, they were worse than the old ones i had.

Can't get them at the parts store? I've gotten the hood shocks without problems before.

Okay. The trunk lid does not stay up... I have somebody interested in the car and asked me to hold for a few days. If it does not go through I will definately sell those to you.

if it has the football shaped premium sound amp and you do end up parting it out... ME WANT!!!!!!!

if all 4 corners work that is. The amp in mine is dead on the front right, though the pass-through works fine.

gadget73
10-24-2010, 09:53 PM
some of the football amps are 4 channel, some are 2 channel. The one out of my 86 Towncar was 2 channel, only the front speakers were amplified.

mine's a 4 channel... bumps all working corners pretty good. 80 is close enough to 82 so it should be the same.

Looks like this thing is gonna be mine tomorrow. Will be a nice Christmas present for myself this year. I feel like a kid getting a new toy to play with, lol.

Brandon is taking the Vic off my hands as well, so this worked out well.

I got the car today around 2pm. Brandon was 100% truthful about the condition of everything. Just so all you GMN mangs know, this is a mang that you can trust buying a vehicle from.

I'm very happy with how clean/rust-free the undercarriage and frame are. Everything electrical in the interior works as well, even the digtal message center, and digi speedo. Now if I can just get a title...

Yay. That car was way to nice to be parted.

Brandon
11-03-2010, 05:47 PM
Oh Cool! I never had the chance to stick a battery in it. Good to hear the electrical stuff works.

How about that quarter glass? do they work?

LTDMan83
11-03-2010, 06:43 PM
Yeah, the quarter windows work great. It trys to lower the main window but the PW Motor is too weak on both sides. I have a couple rebuilt ones ready to go in, as soon as I get the time to install them. I found out this car is actually a Continental Mark VI, I thought before that it was just a base model Conti.

I'm thinking as of right now that I may have to buy a title for this car for $400, which is fine because I'm already falling in love with this thing, lol. I will make a RR thread soon with pics of the original state of the car, before I start cleaning or working on anything.

gadget73
11-03-2010, 07:09 PM
in 1980 there was no Continental other than the Mark VI. The Continental re-appeared in 82, but it was a completely different car based on the Fox platform.

That Lincoln looks real clean, the 2 doors are quite rare too, that's way too nice and rare to part out. I would throw it on ebay.

kind of a stupid question, but how do you "buy" a title for a car that has none?

depends on the state... but basically pay fees at the tax office and show some proof of purchase or apply for a salvage title.

You have to know someone in the DMV :heyhey:

This is the legal way to "buy a title". We won't get into the illegal ways here because this is the internet. Here's one of the companys that do it, explaining how it works CLICK HERE (http://www.broadwaytitle.com/how.htm), a few guys at the body shop I work at claim to have done this successfully a few times, it is fully legal to do it this way.

Hoping that I don't have to go that route though, too expensive. I have a Bill of Sale from the original Owner, signed over to the last buyer of the car, (which is who Brandon bought the Linc from supposedly), so maybe I can get the DMV to play ball. I'll get a title one way or another, this thing is too nice to not be titled.

Yes that is who I bought the lincoln from... I wish I could just find his number but I dont know what the hell happen to it...

Like I said it was titled in his and his dads name. So the title was sent off in two names... If ya could find out the other guy and where they live at, you could just get a lost title application have them to sign it and you fill it out in your name and the title will come back in your name. I know the guy lives in Chapel Hill.

Ohhhh Looky what I just found!!!

I'm going to email him and get this all straight that you bought the car and would love to have the title!

gadget73

It definitely depends on the state. Apparently Delaware has some monthly thing where you can take a VIN of a non-titled vehicle in, and they either pull up the last titled owner so you can try and contact that person for a title, or if its not in the system and there are no reports of it being stolen, you get issued a title. If the last person to title the vehicle doesn't have the thing, I think they can just apply for a replacement title and sign it over or something. If you live in a state that doesn't have some sort of provision for getting a replacement title, you find a friend in a state that has that. If you don't have such a friend, you use that company linked above to do basically the same thing, and likely you pay them more for it.

Nice! Lemme know if you find out anything. I have a little while to wait before the DMV office here opens back up again anyway. Someone shot a bunch of the employees dead there the other day, and now they are "closed until further notice".

LOL! That conti in the link has the exact same color scheme as this one. Makes me wonder how many of these made it here to NC throughout the years, and are now resting in the yards and garages of old people waiting to be found. No way I could get it anyway. As of late last month the Roll-Back was sold, as was the 20ft Trailer, so I now have no way to tow anything myself. I have to get this Linc running in the next couple of months before I move to the new place that I'm buying, or I'm stuck having to pay the tow guy to move it for me.
