    5 speed

i jus got my hands on a 1995 mustang 3.8 5 speed. is this thing even worth having? i heard its the same bolt pattern as a 5.0. is that true? would it be worth putting in my 84 colony park? will it even fit?

I'm preety sure it is the same bolt pattern as the 5.0. It would be cool to make it five speed but you gotta have alot of time, patience, and knowledge to do this. I will be converting my tudor to five speed but I'm gonna pay somebody to do it so I dont have to worry about why it's not working right. That's just me. I like to be able to pay him and get in it and drive it.

its a T5, and it has the proper bolt pattern. Don't know what ratios it has though, usually you only hear about the 4 cyl or V8 version. Absolutely no clue what the V6 got. From what I gather, the 94+ trans is a smidge longer and puts the shifter back a little bit vs the 93 and older version. I dont know if thats actually a problem or not.

If the shifter is farther back you won't be able to use it with bench seats. But if you have buckets its no problem.

'86-'95 flywheel is fine. It should be approximately 1" longer than the fox t-5's and has the same ratios as the V8 unit....'94-'95 3.8 t-5's are the same as their 5.0 counterparts.

              Good luck,
              Don

what about customizing a bench seat shifter to the t 5 shifter to bend around my bench?

I am guessing one would have to make a half circle sorta bend to clear the bench....Would something like that hit the dash in gears 1,3 and 5?

Im not sure how much longer that 94-95 tranny is. This is where it comes up in a fox body tranny. In second gear it is close to being on the seat.

If/ when I put a stick in the white car, I'm going to use a handle similar to the one I have in my truck. I really like layback shifters.

I've always thought it'd be neat to try a pistol grip, as well. I don't think I'd find it all that comfortable, but I'd like to try it to make sure.

And David, they make sticks that will clear a bench seat and the dash without issue.

                      I like that style, too.

You have to be careful with a stick like that as well. The first one I had hit my radio in 3rd and it didn't have much of a forward arc either.
