    1998 Suzuki Esteem winter beater

I just bought a Suzuki Esteem. I'm actually sort of enjoying it.

    More later.

160KMs 600cfm holley, shorty headers, 2.5" catted exhaust, 255/295 tires, cop shocks, cop swaybars, underdrive pulley, 2.73L gears.
waiting for install: 3.27's, Poly bushings, boxed rear arms, 2500 stall converter, ported e7's, etc

06 Mazda 3 hatch 2.3L 5AT (winter beater that cost more than my summer car)

I had one of those (1999 1.6L 4-door sedan)... was a fun grocery getter... and pretty easy to work on.

here's the one I used to have. it was a true beater. took a good beating and still kept haulin ass. got rid of it when it started milkshaking the oil (head gasket probably) and I didn't have the tools to deal with it at the time (nor the time to work on it).

nice, that thing looks like it's got nearly as many dents as mine.

It'll burn rubber most of the way through first gear. I'm mildly impressed.

anything that low sucks in big snow :p

and yeah... I would chirp the right front (one wheel drive) tire without trying sometimes. but if I did try... I would almost rev the nuts off of it before it would move. It's deceptively quick... much like a box... it'll move quick to 30mph... but that's about it.

minus being in good condition, this is what it looks like. Slymer's has the newer front end treatment.

the ugly little (lack-of-self) esteem has lived so far, though not without an ever-growing hole in each rocker panel.

I just pulled down 530KM in a 40.1 litre tank, or 31mpg for the amuricuns. That in aggressive driving, with slightly low tires, in weather than was well below freezing. Mostly highway driving at 125-130kmh (80mph) with stop-and-go mixed in. So uhh, yeah, it's fuel efficient. It's going about 3200RPM at 80mph.

The Metro I owned a while back was a rebadged Suzuki, it was a tough little sucker. The old saw (back in my party days) was it got drunk more often than I did
