1979 Marquis 7.1 Will It Fit?

Hey guys I just saw a 79' Marquis 7.1 for sale online locally just wondering if
    1. It will fit
    2. Can I use the same 302 transmission I have
    3. What other complications will I run into if it does fit thanks.

forget my post. I made a mistake. A 7.1 liter. I think there is a mistake in the listing. I can't see one fitting under there and it will be a different tranny. But if i remember correctly someone put a 7.5 liter in so i can't see why not.

7.1? find out where the motor came from, a 79 marquis got either a 302 or 351W. it was the first year for them though, and previous years got a 351M, 400 or 429, or 460 (the first two are cleveland motors, last two are 385 series)

there's a 7.1 duramax out there but that means it's a chev and it's diesel.

it does sound like his ad is screwed up. 7.1 liters = 434 cubic inches...ford never made one

no totally wrong info. The 1979 Marquis was only available with a 5.0 302 Windsor or a 5.8 351 Windsor both were 2 Barrels. 1975-1978 had 400 and 460's optional. A 7.0 Liter maybe but that would be a rare 427 Engine. I can't see that being the stock engine unless he put that in there. Ford did make a 7.1 liter diesel but that would be horrible for a marquis.

he must not know the size of the engine off the top of his head.

                It's Either a 302, 351W, 351M, 400C, 429, or a 460.

                    maybe a 460 is a 7.5 Liter. a 400 is a 6.6 liter a 410 is a 6.7 Liter, a 351 is a 5.8 Liter a 427 and 428 and 429 is a 7.0 Liter.

                    I am betting it is a 427,428 or a 429 Probably a 429 if is is a 1978 because that was available in a 1978.

with modifications yes. It's been done here not sure if you can use an AOD transmission as i think the bell housing is totally different.

7.1 should be a 429. 400 is a 6.6, 460 is a 7.4. All of those engines use a big block transmission, and big block engine mount locations, so fabrication would be required. A 429 would probably be the better motor to get, but its definitely not what would have originally been in a 79 anything.
