    OEM idle air control valve

I would like a junkyard Ford/Motorcraft IAC, I cannot find any in yards around here. We don't have the type of yards where you go in and wander around to look for stuff, either.

Needs to fit the HO or lopo throttle body...dunno if the exploder ones are the same or not but if they are I'll take one of those too. You guys probably know better than I on which cars these particular valve can be found.

My IAC is wonky and everyone has had the best luck with junkyard cleaned up oem replacements vs 90 dollar oem replacements, and folks (myself included) have gotten bum valves right out of the box.

to anyone willing: How much would one cost from a junkyard near you? Based on that I'll get you to grab one or two maybe just in case and I'll give you a couple of bucks for your time. I'll pay shipping too, obviously. If you wanted to test the IAC on your car I wouldn't hold it against you.

If you wanted to pocket a MAP sensor while you were there I wouldn't tell on you. Where that sensor ended up would be your decision - maybe you'd put it in a box with some parts you just got and send them to somebody. maybe? we'll see.

They are easy to test, just get a pair of alligator clips and hook to the two terminals on it for a sec or so. (not sure what voltage it runs on as it is controlled by the ecm, so don't leave it hooked up for long. It should make a faint click and you'll see the little rod inside it move.

If it doesn't try taking the screws out that hold the two halves together, and clean the snot out of everything with carb cleaner.
Put a few drops of 3in1 or similar(wd40 is a terrible lubricant) in the hole on the half with the electrical connection. Also lubricate the little shaft on the opposite end, where it slides back and forth in the housing. When every thing is moving free and clear, put it back together and try testing it with 12v again.

I haven't found one I couldn't resurrect this way. Of course, that's assuming you can get the screws out of it to get it into two halves. If you can't and it's a junkyard piece. use a dremel to cut the heads off, and then use vice grips to get the rest of the screws out. Failing that, break them off and then drill them out. Time consuming, but cheap.

I've cleaned the ports of the one on my car but never did take it apart and lubricate any parts. Cleaning it helped for a bit.

It works but the idle isn't right..it fluctuates, but nearly everything else that could screw with it is fine. No vac leaks, fuel problems, sensor issues, anything I can think of.

I'll do that to any of the ones I get before I try them out on the car.

The thing to remember is that the IAC on these cars isn't a linear adjustment. There isn't a motor or anything that adjusts the air flow. It's a solenoid. It's either open or closed. The computer pulses it just like an injector, albeit more slowly.
If the IAC is dirty there is friction that keeps that little rod from going back and forth quickly. If it doesn't move as it should the ecm usually overcompensates and you get a wandering idle.

For the record, the IAC uses 12 volts to operate.
You checked your timing and verified at base (spout unplugged) it's at 10*btdc?
You set the idle, with the IAC disconnected, between 650 and 750rpm?
After setting the idle, with the IAC disconnected, you set the TPS to read a voltage of .7-.9 volts?
