Is the digital dash MPG readout in U.S. gallons for cars sold in Canada?

    Hi guys,

My 1992 Crown Vic has the digital dash, and I have always wondered if the MPG read-out is giving me a U.S. or Imperial readout.

    Would anyone happen to know?

    Thanks.

US gallons most likely. Metric would be L/100km, not imperial gallons.

Don't they have a US/Metric switch? I know my Grandfather's 93 TC did and the digital clusters are similar.

Correct. What I'm trying to figure out is if the read-out is in imperial miles per gallon, or U.S. miles per gallon.

since the difference is 20%, which is quite large, you should be able to do your own fuel economy calculation and see if it's close... or 15-25% off

Other thought is that, unless it's a right hand drive car in Britain, would there be any reason to be imperial? Does canada use imperial units...?

It's gotta be US gallons. No way they'd be dumb enough to use imperial gallons since gas is sold in the US in US gallons.

We're officially metric, but a lot of us still use imperial units when we're talking about distances, a person's height, etc.

My Vic was sold in Canada, where I also live, which is why I'm curious if they bothered to use imperial units in the digital dash for cars sold in Canada, or if they just used metric/U.S. units regardless of country sold.
