I had a good time this year as well.
I wasn't feeling well Sunday morning, so I decided to head home. No one was really up, (I did see Pete and Jim in the morning), so I felt kind of funny just leaving. My apologies for that. If you were supposed to get parts from me, I left instructions with Nick on that end of things. Hopefully things worked out. If not, send me a PM, and we'll see what is what.
It was great seeing past attendees, and meeting some new folks.
I never seem to be able to make it home without incident, and this year is no exception. I believe I will be knee deep in a rear diff rebuild in the Ram towards the middle/ end of this week. It was howling and whining on the way home, and was seeming to get progressively worse. I had been noticing a little extra noise over the past month or so, but nothing really bad. Fluid level was fine. Now it has gotten loud.
I am thinking that in the two times I have replaced the pinion seal, I maybe disturbed the pinion preload. The seal no longer leaks, but its a little late now. So... I am thinking new gears, and all new bearings (probably wheel bearings and seals as well. Maybe a locker, but I don't feel like spending extra big bucks right now. Plus, it goes fine in 4x4 anyways...
I have never done a Corporate 9.25 before, but my Dad has. And since he has a thing for differentials, I think we'll have a fun little project. In the meantime, I will be driving his '99 P71, because he has gone away with my Mom for a few days.
But...
SF11 was fun for me. Wish I had been feeling better on Sunday morning, but thats water under the bridge.
The fog on I-81 yesterday morning was unreal. Made for a interesting 50 mile jaunt.

Made it home about midnight last night tripminder is working great averaget 21-22 in PA and reset in flat ohio and averaged about 25mpg. I really thought i liked this car when i bought it but now after taking a 1000+ mile roadtrip in it i like it even more and can happily say it handles better, rides smoother, and is more comfortable than my 95 was.

No kidding Scott, I hope all is well on both cars now! No worries though, you and Skip were excellent hosts. Please tell him I say thanks, love the place. Sorry I left before saying goodbye.
Minus problems, it was GREAT! Wonderful meeting you'all. I've already forgotten all your names lol. Learned some, ate some, drank some :) Tried the, um, scrabble? Heck Sunday morning I dreamed I got a pair of 11" drum brakes for the 85
Thanks to zoomie for the ride, and many thanks to all, see you next year!

His screen name is cheesesteakjim. There are a few shots in my pictures, but he doesn't like pictures only of his car. Don't know why, it's a beautiful car...

Indeed-ely doo it was a good time, even with the rain and a few unfortunate events that kept us from doing more.
Usually we do a nice scenic cruise (not recommended if you have questionable brakes or rusty lines, they WILL get exercised...), burnout contests, rides in HO panthers, repair clinics and other fun stuff.
Still, people food and beers make for a good weekend alone...!
It was great too meet more noobies, hopefully you guys got some inspiration for great things while you were there. It definitely inspired me to do a couple minor things I've been slacking on with my cars... after I install these new scooter parts, lol...

Wow Thain. Who's the ass? Anyway, it was nice seeing people again, meeting new people, and getting parts :D I wish we could've done the cruise this year, but weather and cars were not on our side this year... That being said, there will be no more working on cars during Scottfest unless it is small, non important. I think everyone can agree on that. It was unfortuate to what happened to Ryan and the Marauder. As was Jason and the Vic.

I had a great time. Thanks to Scott and Skip for hosting, Thain for the cables (I still have to ship my turntable up to you), Nate for bringing my old mufflers for a great price, and it was GREAT to meet new mangs, and hang out with the old ones.
I suppose Matt redeemed himself a bit with finding the dash trim. He still needs his head mashed in, though.

Made it home Tuesday evening in a red Hyundai Sonata. Definitely NOT the car I left in. Shit.
On the way to the airport to drop it off, I discovered that id had an ECO Mode button. Good thing I found that after the 350 mile trip.
Dick.
Anyways, heading down on Saturday to recover the Marauder. Picked up a fan from my buddies yard for free. And I can has spare parts from my other two transmission. I'm sure I can figure this one out.
Besides, FUCK YO THROTTLE BODY Tom!!!!!!! (And your spark plugs)
I must go faster next year. Like 14.2psi...
Thanks to all the mangs who made this possible. Scott, Skip, Jess, Thain, John(who I must love as he loves me), and anyone else.

The junkyard fresh valve body did not solve the Marauders problems Ryan?
gadget73
08-19-2011, 04:09 PM
no, same issue as previously as far as it was described to me. I'm just wondering if the valve body not being torqued properly allowed fluid to leak out on one side, and maybe did some internal damage.

my vic is still there in Scott's capable hands. it's getting a new (to it) engine and some other drive train upgrades (tc, rear gears, tl). Can't wait to get the vic back. It'll be really nice to drive.
As far as Matt goes... he needs to get his head out of his own ass and take 2 seconds to think about what he's about to do. I'm pretty laid back, but he finally got on my nerves getting in the way while I was trying to work on my car. new rule for Matt: take one step back and ask yourself, "am I going to get in trouble for doing/saying this?"
For the most part, I found Matt to be excitable about cars and wanting to show off his and other's mods to his own car (John: that one-touch mod works great). The JBL system is pretty good. makes me wish I had the 88 with me to show off my sound system. Maybe another time. Not sure I'll be recovered from this Scottfest to make next year. I may try SoF though.

There's absolutely no working on cars at SoFest. We mostly just get drunk, lol...
BTW that Dublin Dr Pepper totally kicked ASS!!!!

if I come to SoF, I'll definitely be in the vic again. I will not be bringing something that might want to break... and after Scott's done with the vic, it will be full of awesome for at least another 100K miles.
and yes, the Dublin DP is awesome. I will be getting more soon. And it will be brought with if I show up to any events. :D
