    How Many Fans?

On a stock 1995 GM - how many "cooling fans" are there? I know there is the main radiator fan/clutch but is there an additional fan for the A/C Condensor?

i think if your car was originally a R-12 car only one, but if it was R-134a then you got the secondary electric fan. I think 95 was when they changed

It is a factory R134A system.

93 was last year for R12 94 was transition period. Only mechanical fan. 95 may or may not have the electric fan too. Not sure yet, but if someone can confirm this, I can find the fan for Slymer's Vic.

Reason I asked is the system is "intact" as it was checked by guages and there are no leaks. The temp gets "down" to about 60 in traffic. When I run a little cold water over the condensor it drops to about 40! Think there is a fan but haven't pulled the cover and can't really see through it to tell for sure. Thinking an intermitent "fan" issue????

There is NO aux fan in the 93. it was mechanical main fan only. 93 was also r-12 FTW! 94 was the oh crap... R134a almost works year. Had a 94 Topaz that would almost cool in the summer. I think Ford got a clue that year and put the aux fans for AC help in 95.

As son as I am feeling up to it I'll pull the fan shroud and see what is REALLY going on. Not sure if it is coming on all the time, some of the time or none of the time. We'll see.....not sure if is a simple electrical connection that comes on ALL the while the A/C is on (makes the most sense as Duece said) or if there is some sort of variable control.

also... aux fans are in front of the condenser (behind the bumper) if not in a 2-electric fan setup on the radiator.
