    fuel gauge not working

i pulled the fuel tank a couple weeks back to replace a leaky fuel pump seal and when i reinstalled the tank, my fuel gauge went to 1/2 and won't move at all. i pulled it back out and made sure the float wasnt stuck and installed it again. still at 1/2. now im using the trip meter (or whatever the hell you call it) to figure out how much fuel i have. i think one of the wires might have gotten split somewhere when i installed it but i cant figure out where...any ideas?

Check the connector that plugs into the tank. Make sure it's installed correctly, and make sure none of the wires are loose going into the connector as well.
I don't think that there is a fuse for fuel indication.
You can pull out the float and have someone watch the gauge as you slowly move it. Hopefully it should read correctly.
I'd also unplug the connector to the tank and turn the car to ON (Don't start it. Because is won't.) It should zero out the gauge and not read anything because it's not getting any signal. Then it would be a bad fuel sending unit.
    I hope this helps.

I had the snaps break off on mine and it wiggled itself free after I crossed some railroad tracks. Then the car sputtered and bucked a bit, then died.
I sealed it in with a aircraft-grade 2 part epoxy, so, it's safe to say it's never disconnecting again.

Let us know how you make out!
