    Speedo Leakage

So I had this problem before. Trans fluid is leaking out from the back of the speedometer onto my floor. Very annoying have to clean it up everytime I drive. Originally it was suggested that the cable was put in the wrong way and was acting like a screw pump channeling the fluid upwards. So i reversed it. However a couple thousand miles later it is still doing it....any new suggestions?

put a VSS on the trans and use the appropriate cable. That will seal it.

I assume it attached between the trans and the cable? I haven't actually seen one before.

I think there were some orings on the adapter on the trans. Maybe those are shot or gone.

yup. But you'll need a different cable (one for a later model with cruise... like the roundy boxes).

            VSS: Motorcraft part DY587 http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=385941
            cable: ATP Y805 http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=65607

you may have to sand the blue coating off the part the gear slides over so the gear will turn freely (I had to do this with the Mark when I installed the VSS to help the ECM).
