    The Little Duke.

Well I bought a worn but serviceable 1988 S-10 2.5, 5 speed, 176k, no ac power steering or brakes. When's the last time you drove a vehicle with no power brakes? I was hoping for a clean one but the price was sure right. A little rust. I'll have pics soon.

Drivetrain's tight, suspension is about worn out, brakes smooth and quiet, tracks straight, front end is acceptable 'for now' but does have some slack and a wobble in the front right, needs a belt tensioner asap but no big deal. Cracked windshield.

Question, if anyone's had experience with this: no e brake, cable's broke. All I need are the 'front cable', intermediate cable', and right & left 'rear cables', correct?

Anything else I should do when I'm replacing them, and - is it difficult? As always all comments and advice appreciated. Even if ignored

I just got done with an S-10. A lot of potential with that little truck; but way too much rust. I was riding on 2 of the 6 cab mounts when I sold it for scrap. If I had some property and a garage, I would consider yours. I would have loved to swap an LS2 in that truck.

Yeah I don't think there's any bushings left on this one anywhere, once you get over 50 it almost feels alive, rattling and vibrating, add the manual steering & tight drivetrain and it's a hoot! Tough little sucker.

I've been shopping for this for a while and I noticed that if you're looking for a v8 musclecar a converted S-10 might be the cheapest you can possibly get. They are everywhere.

You really don't want the 4 cyl version, and honestly I've never thought much of the 2.8 either. 4.3 or bust says the guy who's been driving the same S10 since 2001.

I'll agree on the 2.8! Not the iron duke though It'll be my 2nd vehicle (drive to work mostly) and the 24/30 mpg makes me happy.
