    Electrochomic mirrors.

I had a question about mirrors for our cars. I was interested in getting a Ford/Mercury OEM electrochromic mirror with lights or compass, ect, but from what I've been told, the mirror posts on the glass are very difficult to remove without breaking the windshield. Ideally I would like to retain my old post and just modify the new mirror. Anyone done something like this?

There is an allen key that you loosen and the mirror slides upward and off the metal tab glued to the glass. Very simple to change, its the metal tab on the glass thats a bitch to replace, tho the electric mirror should sit right on the same tab.

The only thing I am concerned about is finding a mirror that attatches to my existing post (want something from Merc/Ford). I'm not sure how many types of posts there are, or how each is identified/called.
