    Mark VII LSC rear diff??

    I've got a 8.8" rear diff out of a 1989 Lincoln MK VII LSC(3.08 Trac-loc ).

I plan to use the trac-loc unit in my LTD's rear diff when I swap gears. Does anyone know if the disc brakes on the LSC rear diff will work on the Panther rear?

They will bolt on to the backing plate, should be able to make them work.

I was hoping the caliper mounting bracket would work I just didn't know if the axle flange was the same diameter. So I don't know if the rotors will fit over the axles.

you have to be carefull about the rotor offset. The rotor backspace is not even the same between 5-lug fox/sn-95 vehicles. The Mark VII is different than the sn-95.

all of that should work, the bolt spacing is the same as the panthers. The problem will be finding parking brake cables that will work. Ford axles don't change much....

Ok I'll just have to try it when I start working on it in the spring. I've also got a pair of rear calipers & brackets off a 95 Stang if the LSC set up doesn't work. I'll have to do some measuring and see what happens.

My current brakes are rattling around in the drums so I might as go do a disc swap instead of buying new drum brake parts.

yes lug spacing is the same. Im talking about how far the centerline of the rotor sits back away from the axle mounting face. Mustangs have 3-4 different axle legnths. right now we have 2 sets of mustang axels. they will both work perfectly is the same housing, just one makes the wheels sit 1.5" further apart. Not all calipers can compensate for that 3/4" difference.

Mark VII brakes might work. 92+ Panther brakes will work

My brother had to modify a set of Mark VII brake brackets to get them to fit on Fox legnth axels.

You could always snag a set of rear discs off a late model panther. Those are known to fit, but I'm sure with a bit of tinkering you can get the Mark brakes to work. Might need wheel spacers or something to get the offset correct tho.

Well if the Mk VII brakes aren't a good option can I just swap in a complete 92+ rear diff? or did they change suspension? Or the width? Just thinking it might be easier to find a 92+ rear diff with the gears I want.

You should be able to use a 92-97. 98 and up they changed alot of stuff...

Just swap the entire rear end off a 92-97 PI or HPP. Take the rear brake line also.
