    A newbie's question about performance.

    Dear Gurus,
My 5.0 was rebuilt by a NASCAR mechanic to specs and my enormous wagon gets 21 mpg at 5 mph over the speed limit on Interstates. Acceleration is okay but could be better. I hate stopping for gas. Are there any performance mods that don't lower mileage?

Dual exhaust and headers usually help....

Power through efficiency comes to mind...make sure there is a roller camshaft in there, along with full roller rockers....synthetic oil....drop the thermostat to a 180 degree unit...and toss the stock lockup convertor.

Believe it or not, I get better mileage with the stall convertor....and have done so with 3 of my last CV wagons....2-3 mpg better around town.

No problem for someone not concerned with fuel economy

And fuel economy is a concern of some naming themselves "mercracer"?

Do you even have the slightest clue of WHY the stall convertor might increase mileage, even with my foot out of it?
I must be really stupid....hmmm...I put in a better convertor, I get to get better mileage, AND I get to heavy foot it too? I think the term is" cake and eat it, too!".....

You must really be threatened by me... :coocoo:
