    1990 Beige Delight

26k miles and clean as can be. I got this car for free from my dad, due to his moving and not having a place to store it. He got it from my grandpa, who bought the car on a whim to be used as a secondary vehicle. It's pretty well stock, with the exception of the whitewall tires that were replaced.

These cars seem to be most popular with two segments of the public: senior citizen retirees, and teenage pimp wannabees. At 30, I feel a bit out of place cruising around town in this big bastard. But I've always been a fan of a V8 with RWD, so perhaps this car will grow on me over time.

My daily driver for 6 years now is a 1998 Ford Escort, so the handling of this big boat has taken some getting used to. I drove it back to Kansas City MO from Fort Smith AR, and it simply floats on the hiway, with pretty good acceleration thru the on ramps.

Not sure how far I'm going to go with the mods, but will likely start out with a performance air filter and dual exhaust. Also thinking of a light tint job for the windows.

    Welcome to GMN!
I'm not one for the Mercs, but hey- to each his own... and in THAT shape, I'd roll it, too!
Great catch, man... do some research before you do your intake. You can build a true cold air kit cheaper than most "bolt-up" kits that won't really even be cold air. Ask around- a lot of guys here know what they're talking about. I just ask lots of questions.
2011 Mustang GT Premium, MT82, Kona/Saddle, HIDs, 3.73s, 19s, hood/side stripes, UPR 1.5" springs with adjustable panhard bar, and UMI solid LCAs and relocation brackets.
1992 Explorer Eddie Bauer, slight lift, 34s, and A/C...

Yeah I'm not a big Mercury guy either...I've never been too big on lots of chrome and fake wood paneling. I also prefer the post '92 models when they rounded off the design to the older boxy ones. This is actually the first car I've ever owned that's had leather interior. Haven't had a column shifter for a while...kinda reminds me of my old '85 Olds Cutlass Supreme from my teenage days.

There are some pretty good posts on this site, so I figure I'll scan thru them before asking too many questions from the regulars to avoid repetition. Any and all advice is of course always welcome.

26K miles!? I'd gladly take that beauty off your hands if you'd like. Welcome. Take care of her and she'll last a lifetime.

          Welcome!

That's a really nice car, but damn...I can't help but notice the sky in those pics. That's amazing! Do you have them in a larger size?

Believe it or not only 26k. My grandad bought it from the original owner about 4 years ago for $4500, she was in a managed care facility and never drove it (classic "little old lady" story, but true). I have the original window sticker listing the car at just under $21,000 brand new in 1990. I bluebooked it online last week and it came up at around $1,600 in excellent condition...hardly a down payment on something new these days.

Gas isn't as bad as I'd anticipated. The previous two V8's I owned were a '91 Camaro (305) and a '90 Chevy pickup (350), and the Mercury's 302 gets much better mileage than either one. It's no race car, but the car has pretty good pickup as well, both in low gears and on the hiway. Haven't had a kid in a Civic taunt me at a stoplight yet, but I am curious as to how she'd do against the rice burners. I bought my Escort several years ago to avoid any temptation to put $ into my ride...this could get ugly before it's all said and done.

Yeah I'll have to take some better pics. I took those on my digital camera I just got a few weeks ago...didn't mean to have that much space around the car. I'll probably wait and take some more after tinting the windows.

That's a bit better, though you have to click on each one separately to see them bigger. It was a pretty day, though cold as hell.

You should hold up pretty well against the ricers. I was beating lots of them around town in my big ass wagon and it was entirely stock and the transmission was on its way to the crapper.
