    Axle code??

I just got around to checking the door decal and it says the axle code is G. I haven't seen this code on a Panther before does anyone happen to know what gears that code is? And is it an open or TL? Thanks.

Edit: I did a search and came up with 2.26 open. This can't be right a 2.26 gear? The tallest rear end gear I've seen in a Ford was a 2.47 in a 9". Can anyone confirm that it's a 2.26 gear?? If it's right I think I might need some more torque. But noone will touch me on the freeway!

I guess I don't have to worry about over revving the engine on the highway. Good thing I've got a C4 and not an AOD.

The C4's are the reason for all the 2.xx gears. No OD....Imagine the highway milage with a wide ratio AOD and a 2.26....

There's no reason for a 2.26 gear! Hell my 65 Mustang that had the 289/C4 did great with a 2.79. 2.26 is just nuts!!

And just imagine how gutless the car would feel on the highway if it had OD. No AOD of any variety for me. I avoid them like the plague. My 90 F150 has the E4OD and I can't stand it either. But atleast I can shut off the OD on it. If I'm going to run any kind of OD it's going to be a manual trans.

This car is my toy not my daily driver so those gears have to go!!!!!:50cal: Give me acceleration!!!!:3gears:

There was a 79 landau in the junkyard here, with the 351 and a C4 had some really high rear gear. I was going to get it so i could run 160MPH at 3000rpm.
