    Header panel repair???

My header panel has a fairly large crack that I need to repair and I want to fill the hole left from removing the hood ornament. My question is how shoould I repair these two areas? Should I use Fiberglass resin and mat or just use some Kitty hair filler?

I circled the crack in the picture. I'll get a better picture tomorrow.

The proper way would be too fiberglass matt and resin. First you will need to taper the repair area in till the edges are razor sharp. Then cut a minimum of seven layers of cloth. The first layer must barely be large enough to cover the repair area then each layer after must get slightly larger than the last. After you cut all the pieces and taper the area remove paint about 5 inches around area to be repaired then apply a mixture of fiber glass resin and hardener (about 10 drops to 1 oz.) and apply it to entire area. Then add the cloth starting with the smallest piece and soak it with resin. Repeat this with every layer of fiberglass cloth when finished grind 5 inches of paint from underside of repair area and add one layer of fiberglass matt for strength do not grind this smooth. Then repair panel for primer and paint. Removing the header panel will make the process easier

    Hope this helps

It must be a common problem. I don't know if it's a stress related break from the car twisting or if the car hit/or was hit by something.

My grill is cracked and my header panel is cracked. So if I can fix the header panel I'll save myself a little $$. Other wise I'll have to pick up a different one.
